Dental Sedation

Relieve Dental Anxiety in Mechanicsburg, PA

At Fields Family Dentistry, we understand that patients are sometimes anxious about dental procedures. For this reason, we provide several forms of dental sedation for your comfort.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide is an odorless, inhaled gas that has been used in dentistry for many years. Also called laughing gas, nitrous oxide produces a mild anxiety-reducing and pain-relieving effect. Nitrous oxide is very safe, and the effects wear off after just a few minutes of breathing normal air.

Oral Sedation

For patients that experience severe dental anxiety, we offer oral sedation in appropriate circumstances. This is medication that you take by mouth before your appointment. Oral sedation will help you relax and put you at ease. You will need an adult to transport you to and from your appointment.

IV Sedation

For certain procedures, you will be given intravenous (IV) sedation. This medication allows you to sleep through the treatment and awaken with no memory of the procedure. If you undergo IV sedation, you will need an adult to transport you home from your treatment.
